Florals Dominate.

I had mixed feelings about floral prints and now I'm majorly in love with them! I am particularly partial to floral flowy blouses as well as the short summer dresses. I am in love with the black one Rihanna wore this week while shopping around in NYC (2nd pic!). I think the smaller prints are easier on the eye but the larger ones definitely pop when done right. Forever21.com has so many cute floral summer dresses as well as some very pretty blouses for the fall. I really can't wait to start working on the new fall wardrobe selections. What I love most is the femininity and girlyness to floral pieces but when paired with darker more androgynous pieces like black tights or a dark blazer they are easily toned down and still have give off a WoW factor with any outfit.

Gucci Heaven

I've been wanting to do a post on these for a while now, but was waiting for them to appear on the Celebs and blow up all over the Mags (which of course they did). I caught my first glimpse of these Gucci "Iman" Ankle Strap Platforms a few months back flipping through W magazine. I still have the photos from that same Gucci spread. It was a jungle theme and I remember the colors were exquisite...Anyway the pair in that spread was the original black with the gold embeleshments on the platform and straps. These bad boys have been spotted on Kim Kardashian, Rihanna, Jenny McCarthy, and Drew Barrymore (just to name a few). They come in a few colors and styles and I love them all. The original price tag was $1275 but they are on sale at most major department stores and gucci.com for much less (between $500-$700!) Still way to pricey for me so my plan is to wait for Steve Madden or Aldo to get on board with a much cheaper version. They are also available in a flat sandal version and similar to the super high 4inch platforms on the original there is a 3inch heel version with with 2 straps instead of three. Gorgeous <33>

Risk Management

"Fashion is as profound and critical a part of the social life of man as sex, and is made up of the same ambivalent mixture of irresistible urges and inevitable taboos."
-Rene Konig

Rihanna was stirring up quite a frenzy in NYC this past week with her insane sense of style. The girl has an impeccable record when it comes to risk taking. She makes everything look good, if not interesting. I think it's her confidence that really does it. She makes every outfit look so reassuring on, like Yes--this is fierce, so love it or take a walk! I'm unsure of the "earring-necklace" that she rocks in the 3rd pic, however it did catch my attention, and isn't that what fashion is all about? That includes those cut out Rodarte leggings which look impossible to even get on! Bottom line? She takes risks, and she's not afraid of her inner Fashionista. She rocks anything and everything, and she does it with pride! The Derek Lam suit in the 1st pic is by far one of my favorite looks on her to date. There is something about the leopard peeking out as well as her Ruby lips and platinum streaks in her jet black hair. Somehow it all comes together and I'm confidant that even the conservative of Fashionistas would want to try on one of these suits.

Met. Gala

So I finally picked up a pair of white Chuck Taylors (yayy!). I also got a fresh mani with one of the previously posted Essie Colors...Flirty Fuchsia! It put me right in the summer mood. Unfortunatly we haven't had any summer OR spring like weather the past week or so. Just rain, rain, rain!! >=( I had finals all week and I've been stressing pretty bad, but I can't believe how FAST this semester flew by!!

I treated myself to some shopping in between finals on Tuesday and picked up some lovely summer dresses from Zara. I never really shopped there until recently, and I must say...EVERYTHING in that store was appealing to me! Although somewhat pricey, they had an enormous sale section with super cute items drastically marked down. The flowy sheer blouses, flower patterns and nude shades were all over, mixed in with some brights of course. Since I had some coupons to use up in Express I also purchased some more gold bangles (I've been wearing them with everything these days..), and my first "statement" gold necklace. It's long, big and chunky with, pearl, jade, and coral shapes on it.

The met gala was this week, and although it's always fun browsing through the photos of the gowns, and artistic pieces the elite show up wearing, I felt like there were no pieces that really popped or were flawless like last year. Rhianna's Dolce and Gabbana tux was...interesting? Blake Lively wore a stunnng Versace gown (I think my Fav. dress of the night). Leighton Meester is so beautiful and she showed up in some sort of avante garde suit... she would have been so lovely in a gown!!!!!!!!! But in the end, that's Fashion and that's why I love it so <3 The Fashion Show starts tonight on Bravo, and I actually went to a tapping of it. Quite interesting, the audience does the judging ;) along with Isaac Mizrahi and Kelly Rowland so tune in! Hey, it's something to hold me over until Project Runway starts up again!
