I hope everyone had an amazing holiday weekend, I know I did. 'Santa' was very good to me. Overall I felt very blessed to be with my family and although our Christmas was pretty low key and quiet this year, it was perfect and I couldn't have asked for better. I had this genius idea (as I always do) to go hit the stores yesterday (Monday) to make some returns, do some shopping and catch a movie with my Mom. Well...WHAT a fiasco that turned into. The stores were swamped, and the movie theatre was even worse...on a Monday?! Granted I know the kiddies are off from school but I figured the adults or at least SOME of them would have gone back to work...boy was I wrong! The movie theatre had lines like crazy and this was around 6-7 o'clock, I couldn't believe it. Luckily, Mom and I were able to catch the new movie Nine and all I have to say is.....Wow! The whole movie from beginning to end was sensational, from the storyline to all of the amazing actresses and every performance overall was beyond my expectations. Daniel Day-Lewis is exquisite and that hardly gives a justice to his performance as the oh so
Italian, ladies man 'Guido' who he played flawlessly. My favorite singing/ dance routine was (and they were all good), but Kate Hudson's 'Cinema Italiano' was amazing!! I couldn't get the song out of my head, along with Fergie's performance of 'Be Italian'. Penelope Cruz's character was my favorite and I loved every second of the movie. What a cast! Simply stunning. Go see it!!!!!!!

We are who we are...

People don't change.

"She'll only break your heart, it's a fact. And even though I warn you, even though I guarantee you that the girl will only hurt you terribly, you'll still pursue her...

Ain't love grand?"

I watched one of my all time favorite movies over the weekend. Great Expectations. I could watch it over and over and over again. Due to my overwhelming love for this movie I was inspired to pick up the book written by Charles Dickens. Although extremely different from the movie (the book was written back in 1861!), the concept remains the same. All I do is fall more more and more in love with "Estella and Finn's" relationship and the obstacles they go through during life to be together. Such an amazing love story, not to mention Gwyneth Paltrow's wardrobe throughout. (She wears green in every scene!) I thought her performance in this movie was so true to form. It was when I fell in love with this movie that I fell for Gwyneth and her to-die-for style.

Classic.

"I'm not interested in money, I just want to be ..Wonderful*."
-Marilyn Monroe

So for as long as I can remember, I've been obsessed with anything Marilyn Monroe. I have several portraits of her around my room and I've been collecting books about her for years. The only thing I was missing out on this whole time were her movies! I know it sounds crazy, but I was never into old movies. Anyway being the insane clothes fanatic that I am my mom mentioned The Seven Year Itch being on so thanks to DVR I was able to sit and watch it after class the other day. I actually enjoyed the movie! Not only that but the dresses she wore were fabulous! She herself made all the clothes look impeccable and timeless which I feel is very rare these days. The movie was made in 1955 so its now the oldest movie I've ever watched, and I plan on seeing many more! TCM frequently plays most of her films so I'm looking forward to catching up on them now. =) Anyway seeing her in action just confirmed what I had suspected all along.. she really was the most GORGEOUS creature to walk the planet.
Her style + beauty is often imitated, but never duplicated.

"Maybe he just didn't call cause he has NO interest in seeing you again."

So last weekend I mentioned celebrating my bffl Kimberly's Birthday. We went out Saturday and had soooooooo much fun! Lots of good drinks, and lots of cute men! Anyway I love her so much. I'm so lucky to have her in my life and since were now both single our rendezvous keep getting better and better!! I love you Kimber <3

During our weekend fun, we saw the movie "He's Just Not That Into You". I read the book a couple of years ago and thought it was great! Well, the movie was EVEN BETTER! Seriously all jokes aside I took A LOT of good tips out of that theatre with me. The whole movie focuses on "The Game" and also how us single gals set ourselfs up for failure when we subtly learn to make excuses for guys treating us badly. Although I've never been a fan of the games involved in dating, I certainly don't want to be as naive as GiGi (Ginnifer Goodwin, the main charcter). The poor thing just kept making mistake after mistake because she wanted to fall in love so badly, she kept making a complete fool of herself! Anyway, def. a must see if your single and somewhat confused about what "he" is really thinking! ;)

Random Thoughts..

Slumdog Millionaire = Amazing. I was very skeptical about seeing a movie like this, but I must say I was completely taken back. The storyline is beautiful and it had a pretty great ending! Definitely a MUST SEE. There are so many good movies out right now, I wish I could see them all!

Tomorrow is my best friend in the entire world's birthday and I'm very excited! Were going to this crazy bar in the city and I can't wait to just get silly! =)

The Grammys are on this Sunday, and I of course only watch to check out the CLOTHES!! I'm a little upset my main girl is NOT going to be there (Ms. Britney Spears), but I understand she is preparing for her tour. I'm eager to see who dominates, who falters, and usually there is at least one hot mess!
