Blame it on the rain

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

So yesterday here in Long Island there were torrential down pours for most of the day. Luckily it was quite a peaceful day, one where I didn't really mind the rain. I sat in this empty house and listened to it pour down for hours last night! It was a great day though because I got to see one of my best friends who I grew up with, and haven't seen since before the summer. Obviously we had much catching up to do which landed us in an empty diner mid day, with a nasty waitress, good food, and amazing life talk. That lasted for about 4 hours (I think the waitress pretty much hated our lives by the time we left, oh well!). I also got to see someone very close to my heart who I like to refer to as my little cuz. She's 16 and amazing. We ordered Chinese, rented a movie, and snuggled up on the couch. Perfect Saturday night if you ask me. It was extra perfect and convenient due to the weather as well as the fact that the previous night I was with my other best friend who I also grew up with and well, we killed one too many cocktails! It was all in good fun though, I'm always saying I wanna be more spontaneous and I think we definitely were on Friday. This best friend (Kim) also happens to be my hairdresser so I was able to get some much needed rootage fixed and a trim as well. I always feel so great after some fresh dye and scissors are put to my head. After our salon session the following events which were highly unexpected (Kimber got some bad news--nothing serious, just disappointing) led us to our latest rendevouz...a trip to the Bronx to see a friend who lives there and was bartending (Bad news + free drinks = slightly better moods :) and many many laughs!) Like I said I obviously I have an extremely low tolerance for any alcohol (I only drank wine, because anything else turns me into a hot mess) which led to a not so nice hangover yesterday. Luckily I had my best friends to keep me company and enjoy this crazy weekend with. :)

Anyway I was inspired by this Ashley Olsen photo that was featured in Bazaar back in '05. I love everything about her, in this pic I'm obsessed with the hair....how does it always look so messy perfect?? Also did lots of errands and finally stopped by Sephora to pick up the lip balm I keep reading about in every magazine...Rosebud Salve (in the little blue tin). Seriously this stuff is freakin amazing! I have the worst addiction to chap stick and this stuff moisturizes like crazy and also lasts! I also spent a solid 20 minutes trying to find the perfect card to give my Dad for his Birthday which is this week! I also started working on his gift (a very special photo op). Considering I'm the worst person on the planet when it comes to remembering birthdays and being prepared with thoughtful cards, I'm ahead of schedule and very proud of myself.

I treated myself to a mani/ pedi this morning and could not wait to try the 2 new colors I got from OPI. Below are the ones I'm currently obsessing over including Lincoln Park After Dark (Very dark purple), and Manicurist of Seville (which is like a Sangria, red wine(ish) ). The other 3 from the left are, Bubble Bath (the light pink), Here Today...Aragon Tomorrow (very dark emerald) and Suzi Skis in the Pyrenees (deep blue-grey). What are some of your favorite fall/ winter go to colors?

Lastly, even though I'm the last person in the world to talk to about any sport....I am most certainly keeping my fingers crossed for those Yanks tonight! Hope you guys are having a splendid weekend! Xx

A few items on my mind...

So this weekend was the first 2 days in a row of blissful sun and fun! =) I went to the beach yesterday and it was a warm 86 degrees! With lots of sun, no clouds and a nice cool breeze, it was the perfect beach day. I'm the type of person who during the winter says she hates the cold and can't wait until summer, BUT after two days of this heat I'm already looking for some A/C! The truth is as much as I LOVE the summer, I truly cannot stand being hot (my hair doesn't like it either!). It's one thing if your at the beach or the pool but any other outdoor activity I won't last 5 minutes without complaining its too hot.

Anyway there's a few things I've been craving lately such as: a pair of white Converse kicks (a little out of my element, but I figured I haven't purchases a pair of sneakers in years and these actually look cute with leggings or shorts just for bumming around in.)...another maxi dress...a pair of Twelfth St. by Cynthia Vincent wedges (Vanessa Hudgens has been rocking them lately and they are soooo cute!!)...and when I go for my mani/ pedi this week I think I'm going to kick it up a notch with one of the new Essie Neon colors...

It was the perfect day...

So today was pretty amazing...
I was on my way to a doctors/ dentist appointment =(. ----Luckily, today was opening day for the Yankees which = too much
traffic!! This of course forced us to cancel both appointments =). We didn'twant to waste such a perfect day sitting inside! The sun was shining bright and the temperature was rising.... soo it only made sense to spend the day in the city =). It worked out well for the both of us. I had some things to take care of at school, and my Mom has been ranting and raving about this nail place right near campus that she swears by. I have to say I was quite impressed, my Mom knows how to pick 'em! (I guess that's where I get my fab. taste from...) We both enjoyed a nice relaxing manicure and I even decided to shy away from my dark black satin/ wicked phase. I went with a bright red called JELLY APPLE! It's more like a candy apple red but I felt like a new woman right after. (I love the effect a fresh mani has on me!) We did some shopping downtown near school and we came across a really cute boutique called "Purdy Girl". I knew it was gonna be good because right outside they had a rack marked 75% off with tons of cute maxi dresses for the summer in bright shades and super cute patterns. I of course fell in love as soon I set foot inside, it was kind of small but they had the most darling tops, dresses, bags, and accessories! We spent a good hour browsing the racks and trying on lots of big rings and pretty bangles. I got my first pair of aviators =) a bright blue spaghetti strap sundress, and a bright yellow sleeveless flowy top with cute little pockets on the sides. I can't wait for the warmer weather to get here and actually stay for a while so I can wear them! In between shopping and nails, we stopped for a bite to eat at a little place on Bleecker St. and on our way home made a quick stop at Magnolia for my fav. red velvet cupcakes.

The best part of today was actually spending it with my Mom. She is truly my best friend. I'm sooooooooo lucky to have someone so loving and true in my life. She supports my every move, and continues to inspire me daily to make my dreams come true. Our long walks in the park talking about life... and sharing some fabulous red velvet cupcakes together? Those moments are not only precious...they are priceless.

Heidi K.

Heidi Klum is one of my favorite models of all time. I think she is gorgeous and of course very fashion forward. These are some photos from a spread she did for InStyle magazine a few months ago. I love all the gold and black. I've been a big fan of gold lately. Also the black nail polish is again one of my fav. trends. I LOVE the fact that she is 5'10 and she still wears 5 inch heels all the time. She embraces being tall and I think it's fabulous.

Black Satin

I love getting dark colors when I get my mani's and pedi's. I usually stick with Wicked or Soul Mate by Essie. I decided to try the Black trend that seems to be everywhere and I picked up a bottle of Chanels Black Satin. LOVE IT. I was concerened how it might look against my fair skin but it's not regular black, it has a nice silky shine to it. Anyway I swear I'm not crazy even though that little bottle cost ...$24! =)
