The most wonderful time of the year*

This past weekend was quite a lovely (but sometimes messy) one. My friend from Boston came to spend the weekend with me and we had quite an adventurous weekend. I picked her up at Port Authority station on Saturday morning and it was pouring rain at the time. Knowing fully that we were spending the entire day in the city (and Sunday as well), I was nervous that the weather would put a damper on the entire NYC experience for her. Little did I know the trials and tribulations we were in for. We both were not dressed appropriately AT ALL!! Both wearing leggings and uggs (not exactly rain/ snow gear), we marched through NYC bravely with our cheap umbrellas, and by 5 o'clock were both soaking wet head to toe. It was bad. We couldn't do any shopping and couldn't get ANY cabs!! We literally had to run into coffee shops simultaneously to "dry off"--sad. But true. Luckily the bad weather didn't ruin our night completely. It def. made for some good laughs and stories to tell. We ended up having a lovely dinner at a cozy little cafe downtown, and then made it an early night and headed home. Don't worry though, we made up for it on Sunday! =) Although a bit chilly, we dressed warm this time! and the sun was shining bright. We spent the entire day shopping downtown, then headed over to Rockefeller Center to see the beeeautiful Christmas Tree, and all of the pretty windows at Saks, and Bloomies. We ended the night at a little bar on 2nd Ave and basically forgot what a mess the city was a day before. The pics above are from our adventures.

Below I'm including my 'MUST HAVE' list for any bad weather. I definitely learned my lesson and will be prepared for the next hail/ rain/ snow storm I find myself in. I for one want to splash through the streets of the city...in style. :)

Oh, girl, I know how terrible it is to be underdressed in the city! But I'm glad it didn't totally ruin your good time =) And you look lovely, even though you were soaked/freezing!
Mmm, and you just have me lusting after those Jimmy Choos! =)

You are such a lucky girl to be in the heart of it all around Christmas time. We are quite jealous!
